Somerset House, a large community of creative businesses, artists and makers offers a varied and dynamic public programme of contemporary arts and culture. Somerset House welcomes over 3 million visitors every year. Some well known highlights are the Ice Rink and the Fountains. But there are also parts of which are less known. Therefor we designed the richness of their websitecontent in such a way that the expected is placed next to something that is unexpected.
The full-screen menu displays an ambient video on the background that relates to upcomming events. The menu is designed to look simple and scannable, and is prioritized on what visitors look for most frequently.
Visitors can easily navigate through todays events, the next 7 days or directly go to the next 30 days. Three categories of filters make it easy to look for a specific event type, theme or audience. Especially on mobile it was very important to show the most important information without scrolling.
The modular design made it possible to build all pages using just a few templates. Although its flexibility, the website still has a very outspoken design that fits the Somerset House look and feel.
